Vladimiros Symeonidis (b. 1972)
is one of the most active Greek conductors of his generation. He has collaborated with numerous musical ensembles in Greece and internationally, including the Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra (R.S.O. Wien), the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Orchestras of Athens and Thessaloniki, the Czech Studio Orchestra, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Utrecht Conservatory, the Bulgarian National Philharmonic Choir, the Sinfonietta Beograd, the Vienna Boys' Choir (Wiener Sängerknaben), the Camerata – Friends of Music Orchestra, the choir of the Plovdiv Opera, the City of Athens Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Choir of Kosovo, and contemporary music ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, die reihe, dissonArt and Ergon Ensemble. Additionally, he has collaborated with distinguished figures of the global music scene, including Cheryl Studer, Richard Galliano, Simon Trpčeski, Martin Haselböck, Cyprien Katsaris, Nils Landgren, Simon Shaheen and Mikis Theodorakis among others.
He has conducted opera and ballet productions at the Greek National Opera and has recorded for both Greek and Austrian radio, as well as for the international record label NAXOS.
2006 to 2011 Maestro Symeonidis has been appointed Principal Conductor of the Greek National Radio Symphony Orchestra (ERT).
From 2012 to 2020, he founded and conducted the Contra Tempo Chamber Orchestra.
Between 2021 and 2024, he worked on the restoration of Galateia (1912), an opera by Emilios Riadis(a Ravel's pupil), which was left incomplete in terms of orchestration. He orchestrated the first and third acts, which the composer had left in particell form, and conducted the world premiere of the opera in May 2024—112 years after its composition—with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and the choir of the Plovdiv State Opera.
His dedication to contemporary music is reflected in the numerous world premieres (over 160) of works by Greek and international composers.
Maestro Symeonidis serves as Associate Professor at the School of Music Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and he also teaches Orchestral Conducting at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
He is a graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, holding a Mag. Artium degree in both Orchestral Conducting and Composition, as well as of the Department of Music Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His teachers include Uroš Lajovic (orchestral conducting), Erich Urbanner (composition), Ertuğrul Sevsay (orchestration), Christos Samaras (advanced music theory) and Giannis Adamidis (piano, choral conducting).

Έχει συνεργαστεί με πολυάριθμα μουσικά σύνολα στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό, όπως η Ορχήστρα της Αυστριακής Ραδιοφωνίας (R.S.O. Διηύθυνε παραγωγές όπερας και μπαλέτου στην Εθνική Λυρική Σκηνή και ηχογράφησε για την ελληνική και την αυστριακή Ραδιοφωνία, καθώς και για τη διεθνή δισκογραφική εταιρεία NAXOS.
Ίδρυσε και διηύθυνε την Ορχήστρα Δωματίου contra tempo(2012-2020) ενώ διετέλεσε Διευθυντής της Εθνικής Συμφωνικής Ορχήστρας της Ε.Ρ.Τ.(2006-2011).
Από το 2021 ως το 2024 εργάστηκε για την αποκατάσταση της ημιτελούς -ως προς την ενορχήστρωση- όπερας Γαλάτεια(1912) του Αιμίλιου Ριάδη, ενορχηστρώνοντας την πρώτη και τρίτη πράξη τις οποίες ο συνθέτης άφησε σε μορφή particell-spartito και διηύθυνε την α’ παγκόσμια παρουσίαση της όπερας τον Μάιο του 2024(112 χρόνια μετά την σύνθεσή της)με την Κρατική Ορχήστρα Θεσσαλονίκης και τη χορωδία της Κρατικής Όπερας του Plovdiv.
Το ενδιαφέρον του για την σύγχρονη μουσική δημιουργία αποτυπώνεται στις πολυάριθμες(160) παγκόσμιες πρώτες παρουσιάσεις έργων Ελλήνων και ξένων συνθετών.
Είναι απόφοιτος του Πανεπιστημίου Μουσικής και Παραστατικών Τεχνών της Βιέννης (Δίπλωμα Διεύθυνσης Ορχήστρας [Mag. Artium] και Δίπλωμα Σύνθεσης [Mag. Artium]) και του Τμήματος Μουσικών Σπουδών του Α.Π.Θ. Δάσκαλοί του υπήρξαν οι Γιάννης Αδαμίδης (πιάνο, διεύθυνση χορωδίας), Χρήστος Σαμαράς(ανώτερα θεωρητικά), Uroš Lajovic (διεύθυνση ορχήστρας), Erich Urbanner(σύνθεση) και Ertugrul Sevsay(ενορχήστρωση)
Υπηρετεί ως Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Διεύθυνσης Μουσικών Συνόλων στο Τμήμα Μουσικών Σπουδών του Α.Π.Θ., ενώ παράλληλα διδάσκει διεύθυνση ορχήστρας στο Κρατικό Ωδείο Θεσσαλονίκης.
